Gilda’s Bar de Tapas is Now Open in Downtown Shawnee
The highly anticipated Gilda’s Bar de Tapas is now open in downtown Shawnee.
Small Plates, Big Taste: Gilda’s softly opened a few weeks ago, but extended it’s hours this week as it ramps up to full operation. The Spanish-inspired small plate concept serves dishes such as fried eggplant, Croquetas, Catalan Bikini, and more. They also offer a craft cocktail menu.
Destination: Shawnee: Gilda’s is located at 5815 Nieman Road in downtown Shawnee, joining a bustling food and drink scene. It joins local favorite eateries like Hank’s Garage and Grill, District Pour House + Kitchen, McLain’s Market, along with award winning bars like Drastic Measures and Wild Child.

Morgan Freeman’s Symphonic Blues Experience Visits KC September 2-3
Morgan Freeman’s Symphonic Blues Experience is coming to Helzberg Hall in Kansas City on September 2-3.
I Know That Voice: The two-night concert will blend the soul of blues music with the sounds of the Kansas City Symphony. Accompanying the music is cinematic narration from Morgan Freeman himself, as he shares the history of the birthplace of the Blues: the Mississippi Delta.
Freeman at Kauffman: The academy-award winning actor takes the stage at Helzberg Hall at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts Tuesday, September 2nd and Wednesday, September 3rd. Both shows begin at 8pm, and feature Matthias Pintscher as music director and conductor.

Another Pizza Place to Replace d’Bronx in Overland Park
Pizza out, pizza in. PaPPo’s Pizzeria & Pub will replace the former d’Bronx at 7070 W 105th St. in Overland Park.
MO Pizza: PaPPo’s debuted in 2012 in downtown Springfield, MO in 2012 and has since expanded to 11 locations across Missouri, Alabama, Illinois. This will be the second PaPPo’s in the Kansas City metro (first in the state of Kansas), joining Lee’s Summit at 428 SW Ward Rd.
Pizza My Heart: d’Bronx closed up shop in March, and a buildout is underway to accomadate PaPPo’s in the 5,000 square foot space. Guests can expect PaPPo’s menu of handmade pizzas, calzones, 4th generation hand rolled Joan’s Meatballs, and more.
PaPPo’s Pizzeria & Pub expects an October opening in Overland Park.
