Jazz Meets Barbecue at Dunn Deal BBQ in Grandview

Jazz, Meet ‘Que. Dunn Deal BBQ combines the soulful sounds of KC Jazz with the mouthwatering flavors of Texas BBQ.

• Quintessential KC: Dunn Deal is the child of Pitmaster Gerald Dunn, who is also the director of entertainment at the American Jazz Museum. Originally from Texas, Dunn learned his BBQ techniques from his grandfather.

• Mouthwatering Menu: If the line out the door doesn’t tell you the meat is good, the smells from the smoker will. Dunn Deal serves up brisket, ribs, pulled pork, turkey, sausage, and classic sides. Just hurry, they usually sell out around 4 pm.

Dunn Deal BBQ can be found at 506 Main Street in Grandview and opens at 11 am on Fridays and Saturdays.

Kansas City Mavericks Advance to Kelly Cup Finals

The Kansas City Mavericks are the best show on ice in Kansas City! With a 7-1 over the Toledo Walleye on Monday, the Mavericks advance to the Kelly Cup Finals for the first time in franchise history.

• Get to Know the Mavs - The Mavericks are a part of the ECHL, and are an affiliate of the Seattle Kraken (NHL). After one of the best regular seasons in ECHL history, the Mavericks have skated through the playoffs enjoying home-ice advantage at Cable Dahmer Arena in Independence.

• Almost There - The Mavericks await the winner of the Adirondack Thunder vs. Florida Everblades series in the Kelly Cup Finals. Game 1 will be Friday, May 31 with Game 2 the following night at Cable Dahmer.

Which Cities in the KC Metro are Growing the Fastest?

According to the newest U.S. Census Bureau estimates, two KC metro suburbs are among the top 100 fastest-growing cities in the country among cities of at least 20,000.

• Gardner, KS: In 2023, Gardner added 4.89% to its population, making it the 62nd fastest-growing city by percentage change.

• Raymore, MO: Raymore grew by 4.7%, making it the 66th fastest-growing city in the U.S.

Shaquille O’Neal Set to Spin the Tables at The K on August 9th

DJ Diesel, AKA NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal, will perform a Royals postgame concert on Friday, August 9th.

• I-70 BEATdown: DJ Diesel will spin the tables following the game against the in-state rival St. Louis Cardinals at Kauffman Stadium. The concert will begin after the Friday evening fireworks display (following a Royals win 🤞)

• Man of Many Trades: Since retiring from the NBA in 2011, Shaq has found ways to keep himself busy. He does studio commentary for the NBA on TNT, acting in movies & TV shows, and producing music as DJ Diesel.
