Happy Pi Day (3.14) Friday! Here are 11 things to do this weekend:

  • 🏀 Big 12 Ball: The Big 12 MBB Championships continue at the T-Mobile Center, with the semifinals tipping off tonight at 6 pm and the championship game set for Saturday at 5 pm.

  • 🐍 Snakin’ My Way Downtown: Snake Saturday is painting the streets of North Kansas City green! The parade takes off at 11 am tomorrow, but festivities start tonight at 5:30 pm and continue through tomorrow evening.

  • 🍦 Milkshake ‘n Shout: Kansas City’s first location of The Yard Milkshake Bar opens its doors TODAY at 1350 Walnut St. in the Power and Light District. The Alabama-based dessert chain was featured on NBC’s Shark Tank and offers over-the-top milkshakes and desserts.

  • 🥃 Hangin’ Out: Head to J. Rieger & Co. in the East Bottoms for Hang Time, a spirited pop-up experience in collaboration with Charlie Hustle celebrating March Madness.

  • 🎤 KC Rhapsody: The Midland Theatre hosts One Night of Queen tonight at 8 pm. The all-ages show features Gary Mullen & The Works celebrating the iconic music of Queen.

  • 🎶 Queen of Soul: R.E.S.P.E.C.T. — A Celebration of the Music of Aretha Franklin is set for this Sunday at 7 pm at Yardley Hall in the Midwest Trust Center. Tickets start at $25, and there is a pre-show dinner at 5:30 pm.

  • 🇮🇪 Get Highrish: Blip Roasters in the West Bottoms is hosting Highrish Fest on Saturday starting at 10 am. The annual event celebrates the rich tapestry of cultures and communities around St. Patrick’s Day.

  • 🪄 You’re a Genius, Harry: Grab your wand and thinking caps and head to KC Wine Co on Sunday from 2-5 pm for Free Harry Potter trivia! Reservations are not needed, but the event is 21+.

  • 🍀 Irish Hello: The annual 2025 Brookside St. Patrick’s Day Warm-Up Parade is happening on Saturday at 2 pm. The family-friendly event celebrates the Brookside community and features a variety of events throughout the afternoon!

  • 🥇 World’s Best: Test your hand at setting some world records at The Science of Guinness World Records at the Bank of America Gallery at Union Station.

  • 🈸 Truly Japanese: Naka-Kon is celebrating its 25th anniversary at the Overland Park Convention Center all weekend long. The convention celebrates anime, manga, cosplay, gaming, and more!

Finalists’ Renderings Released for Nelson-Atkins International Design Competition

The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art revealed the six finalists’ renderings to transform and expand the museum.

  • International Competition: The campaign ‘Building Belonging’ called for an international design competition in which teams would submit plans for a 61,000-square-foot addition to the museum. The competition attracted 182 teams from 30 countries and has now been narrowed to six finalists.

  • Public Art: The finalists’ designs are available online and on display within the museum through June 1st, 2025. The museum is also looking for public feedback on the designs, which will be reviewed by the museum’s Architect Selection Committee.
