The Country Club Plaza to Introduce a New Spring Shopping Event
The Country Club Plaza will host an all-new shopping event on Saturday, April 12th.
Spring Shopping: The First Annual Spring Market and Shopping Stroll will take place from 11 am to 3 pm on April 12th. The event will feature special offers from 12 participating businesses, 7 local pop-up vendors on Nichols Road, seasonal tastings, and other interactive experiences.
New Team, New Events: This is the first new event planned by the Plaza’s new owners, HP Village Management, which purchased the district last July. The team has proposed sweeping changes to the area beyond just events, including some new artist renderings that were released just last week.

Development
A 100-year-old Building in Downtown Olathe to See New Life
A 100-year-old building in downtown Olathe will soon be renovated into 10,000 square feet of restaurant space.
Out in Olathe: The building at 114 N. Cherry St. will be renovated into County Square Commons. The $7 million project led by LANE4 Property Group will be a multi-restaurant concept with two rooftop patios overlooking Johnson County Square Park.
More to Come: Olathe-based Austin’s Bar and Grill will anchor County Square Commons, occupying over 3600 square feet. Newly rebranded Fifth & Emery Frozen Yogurt and Chocolate (formerly Yogurtini) will also occupy a space on the north end, with other local restaurants in the works.
County Square Commons expects a 2026 completion.

Tech N9ne to Create KC’s Sonic ID for 2026 FIFA World Cup
KC2026 has selected Kansas City’s own rapper and recording artist Tech N9ne to produce the city’s Sonic ID for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Sound of the City: All 16 host cities across North America will have their own Sonic ID, which is a custom-made audio brand representing each city. Tech N9ne, originally from KCMO, will work to create Kansas City’s “theme song” for the upcoming tournament.
One by One: Between March 1-16, FIFA will release one Sonic ID per day, beginning with Houston, TX on Saturday, March 1st. It is worth noting that Kansas City is the smallest of all 16 host cities for the 2026 World Cup. A huge honor for the Soccer Capital of the America!
The full song drops on March 11th. Listen to a small sample HERE.
