The NASCAR Cup Series Races into Kansas City This Weekend

Kansas City, start your engines! The NASCAR Cup Series is coming to the Kansas Speedway this weekend.

  • Friday: A doubleheader of Craftsman Truck Series events take the track, with the Reese’s 150 starting at 4:30, and the Kubota Tractor 200 starting at 7:30.

  • Saturday: The excitement continues on Saturday at 2:30 with the Kansas Lottery 300. This NASCAR Xfinity Series features rising stars and experienced veterans.

  • Sunday: The action culminates on Sunday at 2 pm with the main event, the Hollywood Casino 400 Presented by ESPN Bet. The 267-lap race is a NASCAR playoff race.

Veterans Community Project Serving Kansas City’s Veterans Through Housing

The Veterans Community Project is serving veterans in Kansas City and across our country through housing.

  • Serving Those Who Serve: Established in 2017 by a group of Kansas City combat veterans, the Veterans Community project aims to provide Veterans homes and a sense of community. The project serves over 1,200 veterans each year in Kansas City, along with six other communities across the country.

  • Small House, Big Impact: The VCP Village at 89th and Troost is a community of 49 tiny houses ranging from 240-320 square feet. The homes are pet-friendly and fully furnished, allowing veterans to reintegrate into the community at their own pace.

Chicken Salad Chick is Bringing Fast Casual Chicken Salad to Kansas City

Chicken Salad Chick

Chicken Salad Chick, the country’s only fast-casual restaurant focused on chicken salad, is coming to the Kansas City metro.

  • Midwest Chickens: Chicken Salad Chick was started in 2008 in Auburn, Alabama, and now has over 225 restaurants across the country. Sisters Jo Anne Williams and Cindy Sulzman are partnering together to launch the first location in Johnson County in early 2025.

  • Why’d the Chicken Cross State Line?: Although no leases have been signed, Chicken Salad Chick also plans to open two more Johnson County locations and two Missouri locations (Lee’s Summit and Blue Springs). All locations are expected to be open by 2027.

The menu will feature chicken salads, pimento cheese sandwiches, salads, soups, and more!

A New Hotel is Coming Soon to Downtown KCMO

The AC Hotel Kansas City Downtown is officially opening on October 10th.

  • Historic Architecture: The hotel will open in the historic 13-story Rialto Building at 906 Grand Boulevard. The building opened in 1929 in Kansas City’s financial district, and the conversion into the AC Hotel began in 2021.

  • Modern Amenities: The hotel is found in the heart of downtown, just steps from attractions such as the T-Mobile Center, Power and Light District, Kauffman Center, and the Kansas City Convention Center. It will also feature a hotel, bar, fitness center, and more.
