Development

Destination KCK, Mattel Adventure Park Approved

Destination KCK

The Bonner Springs City Council unanimously approved Destination KCK, a nearly $540 million development just west of the Kansas Speedway.

  • Play in KCK: Destination KCK includes Mattel Adventure Park, a theme park featuring Hot Wheels themed coasters, a Barbie Beach House, a Thomas & Friends-themed area, and more. In April of 2024, the area was established as a STAR Bond District.

  • Worth the Wait: The entirety of the project will include 150,000 feet of indoor space, 15 acres of outdoor ride area, a 10-acre man-made lake, retail, restaurants, a year-round holiday attraction, and a rainforest attraction. The agreement between the city and the developer states that the park must be open no later than May of 2031.

Destination KCK will be located at the corner of State Ave. and 118th St. in Bonner Springs. See the exact location on a map HERE.

Tiki Taco is Now Open in Downtown Shawnee

Tiki Taco

Tiki Taco is now open in downtown Shawnee, its fifth KC metro location.

  • Fresh & Fun: The Cal-Mex-style restaurant officially opened its doors in Shawnee yesterday, joining the already-bustling food & drink scene in the downtown area. Tiki Taco is known for using fresh ingredients to craft a menu of street tacos, burritos, Tiki bowls, cocktails, and more.

  • Foodie Hotspot: We’re not sure if its much of a secret at this point, but downtown Shawnee is becoming a local food & drink destination. Tiki Taco joins an impressive list of establishments including Hank’s Garage and Grill, Gilda’s Bar de Tapas, Drastic Measures, McLain’s Market, Friction Beer Co., and many more.

Tiki Taco Shawnee is located at 11200 Johnson Dr. and is open daily 11am-9pm (until 10pm Sat-Sun)
