Happy Friday! I love the sight of freshly fallen snow, but when it turns into half-melted brown slush (AKA where we are right now), it makes me excited for springtime.

New “High-End” Steakhouse Coming to Leawood

Rakar Dumpling House

A new “high-end” steakhouse called Dick’s Steak & Oyster is coming soon to Leawood.

  • Dick, Nick, & Jake: Dick’s Steak & Oyster will be opened by Doug Watkins and Kevin Timmons, who are also co-founders of Nick and Jake’s. The restaurant will be located at 4971 W 135th St., the former Rakar Dumpling House (closed in late December), which was previously a Winstead’s.

  • Steak Your Claim: The name of the restaurant is an ode to both Watkins’ and Timmons’ fathers; both were named Richard. The restaurant will seat around 150 people, and serve a menu of prime and wagyu steaks, oysters, and cocktails. The current drive-thru lane would be converted into an outdoor patio and green space.

The Leawood City Council will review the project on February 16th. Dick’s Steak & Oyster aims to be open this summer.
