Overland Park is One of the Happiest and Best Cities in America, According to Studies

Two new national rankings have placed Overland Park among the very best cities to live in the United States in 2026.

  • Midwest Nice: WalletHub's 2026 Happiest Cities in America study ranked Overland Park 6th out of 182 cities nationwide, with the 2nd-best score in the country for Emotional & Physical Well-Being: a category measuring depression rates, sleep quality, physical health, and food insecurity. Kansas City, MO ranked No. 127 in this study.

  • Take Two: Separately, Niche ranked Overland Park the 10th Best City to Live in America in its 2026 study, which factors in schools, crime, housing, and quality of life. Overland Park is the highest-ranked KC metro city in both studies.

The 9-9-9 Challenge is Coming to Kauffman Stadium This Season

Nine beers, nine hot dogs, nine innings. MLB and Aramark Sports + Entertainment have expanded the 9-9-9 Challenge to six ballparks in 2026, and Kauffman Stadium made the list.

  • Dogs on Dogs: Created in partnership with competitive eating legend Joey Chestnut, the 9-9-9 Challenge features nine flight-sized beers and nine mini hot dogs, designed to be consumed over the course of a nine-inning game. It comes in custom team packaging and is available to fans 21+ with a valid ID.

  • Where to Find It at the K: The challenge will be available at Double Dip Hoagies in Section 247 at Kauffman Stadium. Kauffman is one of just six MLB ballparks offering the challenge in 2026, joining Citi Field, Citizens Bank Park, Coors Field, Daikin Park, and Oracle Park.

The Royals open the season this Friday, March 27th, in Atlanta. Opening Day at the K is Monday, April 30th.

Smalls Sliders Announces Second Metro Location

Smalls Sliders

Smalls Sliders, the fast-growing cheeseburger slider chain backed by former NFL star Drew Brees, is planning a Lee's Summit location.

  • Smalls Summit: The Lee's Summit location is planned as part of the new Oldham Village development, a 50-acre mixed-use project southwest of Missouri Route 291 and south of U.S. Highway 50. Smalls Sliders is known for its bright orange shipping container "Cans," featuring a two-lane drive-thru and walk-up window.

  • Second Smalls: If you haven't tried it yet, the Blue Springs location at Mock Avenue and Route 7 opened last year and was the second Smalls Sliders in Missouri. The nine-location KC franchise deal also includes planned locations in Kansas City, Overland Park, Olathe, Liberty, and Independence.

Smalls Sliders Lee’s Summit will tentatively open in June.
