Happy Wednesday, Kansas City! QSR Magazine just named Tiki Taco one of the hottest startup fast-casual restaurants in America.
Taco Bout It: QSR(Quick Service Restaurant) Magazine is a publication that focuses on all aspects of the fast-casual food world that released its 40/40 List for 2024: America’s Hottest Startup Fast Casuals. International Flavors: Tiki Taco offers a blend of California-style tacos and burritos mixed with Thai and Mexican influences. It also has partnered with Yoli Tortilleria, the 2023 James Beard winner, for tortillas.
Taco Takeover: After launching its first location on 39th Street in 2017 and opening its second location off Troost by Rockhurst University a few years later, Tiki Taco is poised to open locations all over the metro. Tiki Taco will open its 3rd location in downtown Overland Park next week, February 12th.
The new location at 7514 West 80th Street will open at 3 pm on the 12th and will be open 7 days a week.

The New Royal Palace

American Royal Association
After an initial setback due to Covid, the American Royal is looking to be in its new home as soon as next year.
Home Builders Association: The American Royal, the food and agricultural non-profit began construction on its new home in March of 2023. As construction continues, it is now estimated that the new headquarters in Wyandotte County could be ready by 2025.
2020 Strikes Again!: The American Royal initially had set plans to be in its new 127-acre campus by the winter of 2021, but the global pandemic delayed those aims.
Idk What You Herd: The original American Royal location was built in 1908 to house the rapidly growing National Hereford Show at the Kansas City Stockyards. The structure was updated in 1992 following the closing of the Kansas City Stockyards.
The American Royals says the first phase of the plan could be complete as soon as the spring of next year. The organization will celebrate its 125th anniversary this year.

School Spirit: School districts across the metro kicked off Chiefs-themed weeks. Going beyond the typical Red Friday, several schools have embraced days like Mahomes Mondays and Travis & Taylor Tuesdays.
Feeding The 5,000: Local business owners are helping fans get prepped for the game by pumping out deals on things like food trays and beer. Hy-vee in Shawnee will greet fans with a Chiefs drumline on Thursday at 5 pm.
There’s No Price On Memories: One fan in Lee’s Summit showed off his Chiefs man cave that he has filled with more than $40,000 of Chiefs memorabilia.
