The Wheels on the Bus Take You to the Taco Trail

If you haven’t experienced the hype around the taco scene in KCK, here’s your chance! You can now hit the trail with the KCK Taco Trail Bus Tour.

  • Hit the Trail: The once-a-month bus tour is put on by Visit Kansas City Kansas and Red Machine Party Bus, which takes guests to some of the hottest taco spots in town in a three-hour tour. Participants are also able to check in using the Taco Trail pass and earn rewards.

  • Carnitas To-Go: The Taco Trail Bus tour kicks off June 12th with five stops around the theme of “carnitas”. Future tours this summer will offer themes of “chicken”, “carne asada”, “al pastor”, and “birria”.

Father’s Day is Sunday, June 16th, and Newton James will be open Monday, June 10th. (wink-wink 😉)

A New Coffee Truck is Bringing the Flavors of Havana to Kansas City

El Café Cubano

As of this weekend, El Café Cubano is open for business and serving up the authentic flavors of Cuban coffee in Kansas City.

  • Welcome Home: El Café Cubano celebrated its grand opening this past Sunday along the Berkley Riverfront during the Art Garden KC event. The can’t-miss truck will offer the bold taste of Cuban coffee alongside authentic baked goods.

  • Where to Find: The truck can be found at Art Garden KC events on 6/9, 6/30, 7/14, 7/28, and 8/11. They will also be at the 2024 SantaCaligon Days Festival 8/30-9/2 and Oktoberfest events throughout October.

Swope Health Sets Sights on a New Health Campus

Swope Health

After a recent award of $5 million from the city of Kansas City, Swope Health is making progress toward its new health campus.

  • Modern Medicine: The Swope Health Village will be a 12-acre campus on the block of 2900 Swope Parkway. The campus will include affordable housing, supportive healthcare services, mental health services, a community center, and more.

  • Help From Friends: In addition to the $5 million from KCMO, Swope Health received $7.5 million from the American Rescue Plan Act-funded capital improvement allocation from the State of Missouri. Swope Health Village will be Missouri’s first purpose-built health community.

Demolition began in January, with construction set to begin in early 2025.
