The World's Largest Steam Locomotive is Coming to Union Station Tomorrow

Choo-Choo! Union Pacific's legendary Big Boy No. 4014, the world's largest operating steam locomotive, arrives at Union Station tomorrow 5:30pm.

  • The Big Engine That Could: The stop is a part of the train’s historic Coast-to-Coast tour celebrating America’s 250th anniversary. Big Boy No. 4014 is one of only eight Big Boys still in existence and the only one in operation after being restored in 2019.

  • Chugging Along: Public viewing at Union Station begins tomorrow until 8pm, Wednesday from 9am-1pm, and again from 6-8pm (a private Union Pacific employee event runs 2 to 6pm). The locomotive departs Thursday morning at 9am, heading to Topeka and eventually to Cheyenne, Wyoming.

The Chiefs Hire Burns & McDonnell to Lead Their New Olathe HQ

Kansas City Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs named Kansas City-based Burns & McDonnell as owner's representative for their new $300 million practice facility and headquarters in Olathe

  • Building Local: Set to open ahead of the 2031 season, the new Chiefs HQ and practice facility will sit on approximately 155 acres near College Blvd. and Ridgeview Rd. in Olathe, alongside a mixed-use development. Burns & McDonnell will team with CAA ICON to provide independent oversight across design, construction, budget, and schedule, guiding the project from early planning through occupancy.

  • KC Firm, KC Team: This is the first major announcement for the project since the move to Kansas was confirmed in December 2025. Burns & McDonnell is an employee-owned engineering and construction firm headquartered in Kansas City, employing over 14,000 globally.

Additional announcements surrounding the new practice facility and headquarters in Olathe are expected in the coming weeks.
