New Riverfront District to be Named Current Landing

Current Landing

Last Friday, the Kansas City Current unveiled the official name for the highly anticipated waterfront mixed-use district: Current Landing.

  • Down to the River: Current Landing is anchored by CPKC Stadium and the Missouri River, transforming the area into a vibrant, walkable neighborhood along the water. The district will be connected to downtown Kansas City (and beyond) via the KC Streetcar Riverfront Extension, which is expected to open in early 2026.

  • Eat, Live, Play: Construction is underway on a 2+ acre town square adjacent to CPKC Stadium, set to open in early spring 2026. The first residences, River's Edge and Confluence, will begin pre-leasing in January 2026, with move-ins available before the 2026 World Cup. Current Landing will feature 10+ new restaurants and bars, with chef announcements starting in January 2026.
