The Market Is Open

The Streamable
Happy Monday, Kansas City! We bring good news for baseball fans, as a new deal between Amazon and Bally Sports will bring Royals games to Amazon Prime.
Bezos To The Rescue?: Last week, Amazon spent $115m to take a minority stake in Diamond Sports Group’s Bally Sports regional networks, allowing them to stream Bally Sports games on Amazon Prime.
The Fab 5: This is significant because it will allow 5 teams, including the Royals, to now stream their local games on Amazon Prime instead of Bally Sports which requires a separate streaming package.
“I DECLARE BANKRUPTCY”: The purchase comes after Diamond Sports purchased Fox streaming rights in 2019, a gamble that seems not to have paid off as the company was forced to file bankruptcy in 2023.
While the contract only gives Amazon access to a portion of Bally’s local networks, it appears that Kansas Citians with an Amazon Prime account will finally be able to watch the Royals (hopefully win a few more games).
