No Vacancy

Envious of your friends going to Europe this summer? Don’t be! Condé Nast Traveler recently named Kansas City as one of the “23 Best Places to Go in the U.S. in 2023” and with boutique hotels popping up all over the city, you don’t need to go far to find a room that will make you happy you decided to stay put. From classic Kansas City aesthetics around the Plaza, to a nifty spot just down the street from your favorite restaurant in the Crossroads, you can have the vacation your Instagram has been dreaming of right here in KC.

A little character: Just a short walk from the Plaza and the Nelson-Atkins Museum, The Truitt, is perfect for those looking for a little sophistication.

A little flair: If you can’t make up your mind on which boho vibes you're going for, no two rooms look the same in the No Vacancy.

A little cozy: If you’re looking for the coziest rooms you’ve seen in your life, The Aida is probably right up your alley.

A little historic: The Oak Street Mansion offers short-term rental stays in a historic colonial home in the heart of KC.

Broadway in KC

KC Starlight

Perhaps your only experience with musical theater was sitting through your high school’s pitchy production of Hairspray, but trust us, a Broadway show will be one of the most entertaining evenings of your year. Broadway plays have often stopped over in Kansas City for a few weeks out of their national tours, and this summer proves no different. What’s coming up?

  • Outdoor Theater: Starlight Theater will host several Broadway comedies including Tootsie, Jesus Christ Superstar, and Legally Blonde The Musical.

  • Music Hall: The Kansas City Music Hall will host the beloved Broadway classics Aladdin and Les Misérables.

  • What’s next: If you’re looking for a comprehensive list of the next year, this is a great place to start.

Putting the Art in Heartland

KC Daily

Since 2021, Kansas City Parade of Hearts has been placing 5-foot hearts designed by local artists all across the metro in tourist attractions and neighborhoods alike. The hearts are chosen by the Parade of Hearts committee, reviewing hundreds of artist submissions, in order to raise money for local charities and non-profits. This year’s hearts have already begun popping up around the Plaza and Downtown, but in May we’ll see them spread across both sides of Stateline Road.

Where will they be?: With over 150 hearts going up in the KC area, you could have one in your neighborhood.

The artists: Curious who these local artists are and what their other work looks like? View the full list.

Merch: Working alongside Charlie Hustle, KCPOH has released one of a kind shirts to celebrate this year’s designs. That, and some pretty sweet pint glasses.
