Populous is Designing the Chiefs’ New Olathe HQ and Practice Facility

Populous

The Kansas City Chiefs named KC-based design firm Populous as lead architect for their new $300 million practice facility and headquarters in Olathe.

  • Populous Decision: Populous will lead architectural and workplace design for the entire facility, covering the needs of players, coaches, and football operations departments. They'll also serve as master planning architect for the surrounding mixed-use development alongside Burns & McDonnell, who was previously named the owner’s representative for the project.

  • Keep It Local: With Populous designing the HQ and practice facility in Olathe, and MANICA in charge of designing the new stadium in KCK, both major projects are in the hands of KC-based firms. The new practice facility, team HQ, mixed-use district, and stadium are set to open ahead of the 2031 season.

Renderings of the new HQ and practice facility are expected in the coming months. Find more details on the project HERE.

  • Never Forget: The stop is a part of a 10,500-mile, 35-city tour commemorating the 25th anniversary of 9/11. The special ceremony will feature the 9/11 Never Forget Mobile Exhibit, an 83-foot tractor-trailer that transforms into a 1,100-square-foot high-tech exhibit honoring all those lost that day, including the 343 FDNY members. Country music artist Jessica Rose will perform, and lunch will be provided by Guy Fieri Foundation Food Trucks.

  • For Those Who Served: Born from the tragedy of 9/11, the Tunnel to Towers Foundation provides mortgage-free homes to Gold Star and fallen first responder families with young children, builds smart homes for catastrophically injured veterans and first responders, and works to eradicate veteran homelessness.

The event is free and open to the public at the National WWI Museum and Memorial on August 5th at 10am.
