The Royals Have Found a Home

Populous
After months of back-and-forth speculation and debate, the Royals have officially announced a site for their new stadium.
At Long Last: In a press conference yesterday, Royals owner John Sherman announced the Royals will call the Crossroads home. They have committed to building the new ballpark between Grand Boulevard and Locust Street from Truman Road to 17th Street.
Small, but Mighty: The capacity of the new stadium is between 34,000-34,500, which would rank as the smallest stadium in the MLB. However the proximity to downtown businesses, the T-Mobile Center, Power and Light, and the new South Loop project has proponents excited.
Sound Your Voice: The new development comes at a cost, as several downtown blocks would be leveled to make way for the new stadium. Jackson County residents will be able to sound their voice on the April 2nd ballot, which will include a measure on the 3/8th-cent sales tax that would be used to fund the Chiefs and Royals stadiums.

Mint Condition

Steve Beaumont
A former Bank of America building in Lenexa is being redeveloped into a wedding venue.
Mint Condition: The Mint, owned by Steve Beaumont, will completely renovate both the interior and exterior of the 18,000-square-foot building. The drive-thru lanes, lobby, vault, and more will all be repurposed in the venue.
Take it to the Bank: Beaumont, who also owns Chateau Avalon in KCK, aims to offer a “unique and memorable experience, integrating elements from the bank’s history into the new space.” For example, the entrance to the bar will be a 5,000-pound vault door!
Check out The Mint’s website for more information on the venue, or to book a tour.
