The Royals to Kansas?

Populous

According to a recent interview with KCUR, Jackson County legislator Manny Abarca IV claims that both the Royals and the Chiefs are considering a move to the other side of the state line.

  • Costly Indecision: After initially saying a decision on the new ballpark location would be made by September 2023, the Royals delayed picking a new site until further notice. Meetings are still happening with both leaders of Jackson and Clay counties, as both rally to keep the Royals on the Missouri side.

  • Two, Three, Maybe Four?: The Royals leadership had said that the new ballpark would be built in one of two locations; the East Village in downtown KCMO, or a site in North Kansas City. However, in the last couple of weeks, reports have emerged saying a third site is under consideration.

  • A Stately Competition: A potential move to Kansas for both the Royals and Chiefs would have a massive local economic impact. Billions of dollars in stadium construction, tax incentives, and new development are sure to entice or deter residents.

Whether these reports have legs or are just hollow words remains to be seen. One thing is for certain, as long as we have Patrick Mahomes at quarterback we will keep winning games no matter what state the Chiefs call home.

Coffee with a Cause

KC Daily

A new coffee shop opened last week in the Northland with a unique mission. HullHouse Coffee aims to employ people with unique abilities and provide a fun and welcoming work environment.

  • Inspired by Charlie: Owners John and Kim Hull were inspired to open their shop by their 19-year-old son Charlie who has intellectual disabilities. With a love for coffee, the Hull’s met with other local organizations and leaders to find out what it would take to create this space.

  • Roasted Fresh: HullHouse roasts its own beans weekly to ensure the top quality of each cup. The new shop located in Metro North Crossing offers a full menu of coffees, espressos, teas, smoothies, and more.

  • Service with a Smile: When we visited, we were greeted by Charlie who took our order with a smile. In addition to great service and great drinks, the space is light and airy and provides a great space to chat, study, and relax.

Be sure to stop by HullHouse at 434 NW Legacy Dr. Tuesday-Sunday 7 am-4 pm. Tell them KC Daily sent you!

An Enchanting Display

Enchant Christmas

Last week, Legends Field in KCK welcomed the world’s largest Christmas light maze.

  • A New Tradition: Enchant offers light-filled fun for the whole family. In addition to the maze, they offer a holiday-gift village, ice skating, Santa visits, and play areas for little children. Actor and Kansas City native Eric Stonestreet said it has the potential to be “a real, real great tradition here in Kansas City.”

  • It’s Lit 💡: With over four million lights illuminating the field, there is a spectacle in every direction when visiting Enchant. And you thought your electric bill was high…

  • First of Many: While this is the first year the show has visited Kansas City, visitors hope it won’t be the last. With 6 other events across the country, Enchant hopes to spread holiday cheer to millions for years to come.

Tickets for Enchant in Kansas City can be purchased through their website, with adult tickets starting at $34 and children from $25.50.
