Privee Restaurant and Lounge

Happy Monday, Kansas City! Privee (pronounced “privy”) Restaurant and Lounge is revitalizing the historic Spanish colonial-style building at 700 Southwest Blvd in Kansas City with its unique blend of fine dining and high-end lounge experience.

  • The Perfect Blend: Privee, which is replacing what was most recently a Latin nightclub, plans to bring something that it feels Kansas City is lacking- a pairing of a high-end restaurant and cocktail bar.

  • Family Friendly: After noticing a potential gap in the Kansas City Market, owners Tony Harris and Marcus Easy wanted to offer a restaurant with the quality of “801 Chophouse or Capital Grille, with a high-end lounge, like Mercury Room or Monarch Bar.”

  • Swope Park: The menu, from executive chef Johnathan Wilson, consists of specials like a $138 Seafood Tower, a $59 KC Strip Steak, and a $200 Bone in Tomahawk Steak. The cocktail bar on the other side of the building is where they plan to host Jazz and R&B performances on First Fridays.

Privee, which also happens to be black-owned, opened last week. You can book a table ahead of time on their website or pop into their bar until 1 am Wednesday to Sunday.

Divine Development

Downtown Lee’s Summit

A significant 1,839-acre property in Lee's Summit, owned by an affiliate of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, has been listed for sale after more than three decades.

  • Up For Grabs: Suburban Land Reserve Inc., a real estate investment subsidiary based in Salt Lake City, is selling a substantial portion (about 43%) of the 4,200 acres owned by another church entity, Property Reserve Inc. This long-awaited sale sparks intrigue among city officials, planners, and developers, as the development potential of this land has been a focus for years.

  • What To Do?: This prime real estate opportunity presents 836 acres in the northern tract and 1,003 acres in the southern tract, boasting potential for diverse development types such as single-family, multifamily, senior housing residential, office, retail, and light industrial spaces.

  • Land of Opportunity: This listing represents a chance for buyers to acquire up to 16% of Lee's Summit's undeveloped land, set against the backdrop of the city's impressive 45% population growth since 2000, now home to over 103,000 residents.

While no moves have been made yet, Lee’s Summit seems poised to jump on the opportunity to develop this area the size of Prairie Village.
