The World Cup Kicks Off Today, and Kansas City is Ready!
The FIFA World Cup 2026 officially kicks off today, with Mexico taking on South Africa at 2pm in Mexico City.
The World is Watching: The quest for the FIFA World Cup Trophy begins today, as 48 nations vie for the title. There will be 104 matches between now and July 19th, with six matches happening in Kansas City. Although being the smallest host city, four nations are calling the region home for the next 30+ days: Argentina (No. 1 world rank), England (No. 4 world rank), the Netherlands (No. 8 world rank), and Algeria (No. 28 world rank).
Fans Gather Here: While matches at Kansas City Stadium don’t begin until next week, the FIFA Fan Festival opens its doors to the public today at 1pm. Over the 18 days it’s open, fans can expect live entertainment, local and global food vendors, a FIFA Fan Store, fan activations, and so much more. We got a sneak peek on Tuesday, and it’s amazing.
The first match in Kansas City is set for Tuesday, June 16th at 8pm when Argentina takes on Algeria. Tickets start around $830.
