The Fun Farm

April showers bring…April flowers! The Fun Farm in Kearney kicked off its Tulip Festival this past weekend and will run through April 28th.

  • Tulip Time 🌷: The annual Tulip Festival is one of the area’s largest with over 1.5 million bulbs and 12 acres of tulips. With 40+ varieties of tulips and the backdrop of the red windmill, you might think you’re in Holland!

  • In Lieu of Flowers: There’s fun for the whole family at The Fun Farm, even if you aren’t a flower-lover. Activities include a giant slide, fun farm train, jumbo jumper, treehouse village, and so much more!

Sporting KC to Host Inter Miami + Messi This Weekend

KC Daily

Sporting KC is hosting a home match against Inter Miami CF this weekend, but it’s no ordinary match. They will also be hosting one of the greatest soccer players of all time, Lionel Messi.

  • The GOAT: Since signing with Miami last July, Messi has drawn massive crowds at all MLS games that feature Inter Miami. In preparation for the large crowds wanting to see him play in KC, the game will be held at Arrowhead Stadium.

  • Get in the Game: There had been concern about Messi playing after he suffered an injury on March 13th. But the Argentinian star returned to action this weekend when he scored a goal against the Colorado Rapids.

Tickets for Saturday’s game are still available and can be purchased HERE.

Development

Funding Approved for Barney Allis Plaza Redevelopment

Barney Allis Plaza

Kansas City officials approved a $119.8 million funding plan to demolish and replace the crumbling Barney Allis Plaza.

  • Out with the Old: The 69-year-old Barney Allis Plaza garage is set to be demolished and rebuilt into a 583-space garage covered by a public green space. The current garage has had its lowest level closed for nearly four years due to safety concerns.

  • In with the New: The new plans are part of a wider effort to expand green space and better connect downtown attractions. The Barney Allis Plaza is within walking distance to the convention center, Power and Light District, and the upcoming South Loop Link over I-670.

The garage is scheduled for permanent closure on April 15th with demolition beginning in May.
