KC Current Kick Off 2026 Season at Home this Saturday

KC Daily

After a historic campaign in 2025, the Kansas City Current return to CPKC Stadium to kick off the 2026 season this Saturday, March 14th.

  • Revenge Season: The Current head into 2026 as the NWSL favorites, after the club set multiple NWSL records in 2025, including 65 points, 21 wins, and 16 shutouts. With their title hopes ending early after a 2-1 semifinal loss to Gotham FC, the team looks to bounce back this year with the help of back-to-back NWSL MVP Temwa Chawinga.

  • The Other Royals: The Current welcome the Utah Royals to CPKC Stadium at 3pm on Saturday, the first game under new head coach Chris Armas, who was appointed in January. Tickets are still available, starting around $50.

To make Saturday’s even more interesting, we’re making a friendly little wager (with ourselves). If the Current score one or more goal in Saturday’s match, KC Daily Dine Cards will be 50% off for 24 hours starting Monday, March 16th! Stay tuned, and cheer for a goal and a win!

Loretta Jean's Restaurant & Bar is Coming to a Historic Downtown Building

Zach Bauman

Chef Rick Mullins and hospitality veteran Candice Moore have announced Loretta Jean's Restaurant & Bar inside the historic Seiden's Furs building in downtown Kansas City.

  • Downtown Dining: Mullins, a KC culinary veteran with stints at Bluestem, Cafe Sebastienne, and The Town Co., will helm a menu rooted in seasonal, farm-fresh ingredients with a robust preservation program and playful nods to iconic KC restaurant history. The 3,000 sq. ft. first floor will feature a horseshoe bar, open kitchen with wood-fired grill, and soaring 23-foot ceilings. Downstairs, a speakeasy-style space called Josephine's will host private chef dinners.

  • Storied Past: The 1874 structure once housed a drugstore, a brothel, and a furrier before falling into disrepair and facing demolition. Developer Chris Sally of Iconic Preservation saved it, earning the building a 2025 Historic Kansas City Preservation Award. Moore, named for her late grandmother and a proud Royals fan, will oversee a bar program treating spirited and non-alcoholic cocktails with equal care.

Loretta Jean’s Restaurant & Bar will be located at 935 Broadway Blvd and expects a fall 2026 opening.
