⛲️ Two States, One Bridge

Worth the Wait: The project of converting the 120-year-old railroad bridge into America’s first “destination bridge” has hit multiple delays since construction began in the spring of 2023. Now the bridge, which will connect the West Bottoms to Kansas City, KS over the Kansas River, expects to open mid-November with a temporary occupancy permit.

Two States, One Bridge: The Rock Island Bridge will feature 11,000 square feet of entertainment space, a first-floor restaurant called “River House”, various bars, pedestrian trails, and a top-level event space. When complete, people will be able to walk/bike across the bridge year-round, but the entertainment will only be open March through December.

Rock Chalk: For the Jayhawk fans, releases include Crimson and the Blueberry Quirk Hard Seltzer, a craft hard seltzer with flavors of delicate blueberry and zippy lemon, as well as Pay Heed Pale Ale, a hop-forward ale with notes of pine and citrus.

MIZ-ZOU: For the Tigers fans, grab the Stripes of Citrus Branded Mizzou Mix Pack, a mix pack of Watermelon Salt & Lime, Mango Punch, Pear Yuzu and Passionfruit Orange Quirk Hard Seltzers. An all new Quirk flavor called Tiger Paw Punch will release in early 2026.

Sip & Spook: Tickets ($15-$35) provide all-access entry to over 10 bars and nightclubs with all-day and all-night drink specials, plus free welcome shots at select venues. Participants will check in at Tin Roof between 7-10pm, before exploring 10+ bars and nightclubs.

Come in Costume: The event encourages costumes and offers transparency by posting the complete participating bar lineup and drink specials before tickets go on sale, allowing attendees to experience multiple Halloween parties in one night.

💡 Lights Out: The iconic Western Auto sign in the Crossroads has been dark since July 7th due to maintenance concerns. Although a relight date isn’t certain, the city is working with the condo building on finding a solution.

🏨 Hotel Makeover: Country Club Plaza ownership group Gillon Property Group will acquire and renovate the Courtyard by Marriott Kansas City Country Club Plaza. The hotel could be rebranded as Park Hotel on the Plaza.

🌙 Look at the Moon: Moonstone, a cocktail bar and small-plates restaurant overlooking the Missouri River in the Berkley Riverfront, will open in November. Take a look inside.
