KC Daily

Spring has sprung! (we hope for good) With the new season comes new restaurants, and here are four coming soon that we can’t wait for:

  • T’ÄHÄ: Fidel Gomez, chef & owner of Little Hacienda in Branson, is set to open T’ÄHÄ Mexican Kitchen at 900 W. 48th Place (the old Jax Fish House). T’ÄHÄ will offer “central Mexican cuisine with a midwest connection.”

  • Aqua Penny’s: From the owners of the popular Bamboo Penny’s comes Aqua Penny’s, a reimagined seafood and oyster bar coming soon to Leawood’s Park Place. The menu will consist of seafood towers, lobster deviled eggs, lobster po’ boys, and more.

  • Green Dirt on Oak: An exciting collaboration between Sarah Hoffman and executive chef Oskar ArĂŠvalo, Green Dirt on Oak is an extension of the popular cheese farm in Weston. The new restaurant in the Crossroads will offer a glimpse into the art of cheese-making while offering a late breakfast and lunch service.

  • Sushi Kodawari: Karson Thompson is bringing Kansas City’s first Omakese-style restaurant to 2100 Central Street in the Crossroads. Sushi Kodawari is an 8-seat boutique restaurant will offer an ever-evolving menu that will change daily.

Drunken Worm is Coming Soon…Again!

Drunken Worm

A local favorite Mexican cantina that closed abruptly last year, will open again soon on 39th St.

  • Tacos and Tequila: The Drunken Worm had been a staple on W 39th Street for years before closing last September. The restaurant offered a wide variety of Mexican fare as well as a huge selection of tequilas and margaritas.

  • Welcome Back: While many details on the new opening are yet to emerge, the Drunken Worm will open one more on 39th St. under new ownership. Until then we will keep our eyes peeled on the space at 1405 W 39th St. in KCMO.

California-based Developer Eyes Multiple Projects in KC

Hillcrest Golf Club

A private investment firm led by Sporting Kansas City co-owner Robb Heineman has its eyes set on a couple of Kansas City-area projects.

  • Concrete Jungle: Los Angeles-based BR Cos. acquired a 0.87-acre parking garage in downtown Kansas City last month. Plans are to begin construction on a mixed-use high-rise with over 200 apartments as well as retail or commercial space. The location is across the street from the historic Scarritt Building.

  • Hit the Links: The firm also acquired the now-shuttered Hillcrest Golf Club, and plans to renovate the 18-hole course and clubhouse. The historic course opened in 1916 and is Missouri’s last remaining course designed by golf architect Donald Ross. The grand reopening is tentatively planned for spring 2026.
