Festa Italiana Returns to Zona Rosa This Weekend

Festa Italiana, one of Kansas City’s largest festivals celebrating Italian culture and heritage, returns this weekend to Zona Rosa.

• Viva Italia!: Festa Italiana is held in Zona Rosa’s North Park, and admission is FREE! Prepare for excellent Italian food, live entertainment on the main stage all weekend, an Italian Motorsports Show, Strawberry Swing Indie Craft Fair (new this year), bounce houses for kids, and much more!

• Eat for Education: In addition to celebrating local Italian culture, the event is the largest annual fundraiser for UNICO KC, an Italian-American service organization that raises funds for college scholarships for area high school students. This year, over $50,000 will be awarded during Sunday’s ceremony.

Festivities kick off this Friday at 5pm and last through Sunday at 5pm. Find the full schedule HERE.

Tupelo Honey to Open First KC Location This Summer

Tupelo Honey, an Asheville, NC-based Southern kitchen and bar, will open its first KC metro location later this summer.

• Sweeter Than Honey: Tupelo Honey will open within Lenexa City Center Restaurant Row, offering brunch, lunch, dinner, and a full bar. The restaurant boasts 25 locations nationwide, and is particularly known for it’s fried chicken and other Southern fare.

• Dining Destination: The restaurant will share a building with Zhoug Mediterranean and join other restaurant tenants such as Enjoy Pure Food + Drink, Cactus Grill, Five Four Restaurant & Drafthouse, and more.

Tupelo Honey plans a July opening at the southwest corner of 87th St. and Renner Blvd.

New Goodwill Outlet Opens This Week in South KC

The Goodwill Outlet Center is on the move! It will open its doors at its new location at 5000 E Bannister Road in South KC this week.

• Good Deals, Goodwill: The outlet center operated by Goodwill of Western Missouri and Eastern Kansas is moving from its current location at 1800 N. Corrington Ave. The current location is open limited hours today (10-2) and closed tomorrow in preparation for opening at the new location this Friday.

• For the Community: MoKan Goodwill has been serving the Kansas City community since 1894, with a mission of “empowering people to discover their potential”. All revenue from sales at the Goodwill Outlet directly supports thousands of folks across our community.

The Goodwill Outlet Center will open this Friday (5/30) at 10am.

Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest Qualifier Happening in Shawnee

A qualifying event for the Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest is coming to Shawnee on Saturday, June 7th.

• Hot Dog!: Who’s ready to find Kansas City’s Joey Chestnut? The qualifying event will happen at Old Shawnee Days on Saturday (6/7) at 6pm. The top male and female competitor will qualify to compete in the Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest on July 4th in Coney Island, NY.

• Gulping Glizzys: The famous international competition is a Fourth of July tradition, and those that are interested in competing at Old Shawnee Days are encouraged to attend the festival at 11600 Johnson Dr., and arrive before the competition begins at 6pm on the main stage.
