Greenline KC Trail System Coming to Life in 2026
The Greenline KC trail system is gaining momentum with large sections of its Western, Northern, and Eastern legs opening in 2026.
Going Green: The 10-mile urban trail system will connect pedestrians to downtown's major attractions, with the initial phase offering routes from the Rock Island Bridge to CPKC Stadium. Greenline KC is the signature project for the spring semester at the KC Design Center, a nonprofit urban design program that partners with Kansas State University.
Urban Exploration: According to Jared Campbell, Resident Engagement Project Manager at Downtown Council of Kansas City, this initial phase will demonstrate the impact of a fully built-out Greenline system, connecting neighborhoods and providing recreational opportunities and vital links to nature.
