KC Mag Releases Its Top BBQ Spots

Chef J BBQ

Happy Tuesday, Kansas City! Kansas City Magazine, the same publication that releases the top 40 restaurants in KC, published its top 10 BBQ spots.

  • Best In The Pits: If you’re a Kansas City BBQ connoisseur, it might surprise you that Jack Stack did not make the list. Instead, Chef J earned the top spot by building a clientele that lines up early for their Ribs and Brisket each week in the West Bottoms as they frequently sell out.

  • Above Reproach: The curators of the list wanted to make it clear that they showed no favoritism in the list. All BBQ was purchased and the rankings weren’t influenced by anything other than taste.

  • Expand Your Taste Buds: A fun aspect of the list is that there are probably quite a few places the average BBQ fan may not have tried yet. Buck Tui, Scott’s Kitchen, and 3Halves Brewing all took spots in the top 10.

KC Is The New Nashville

Kansas City Business Journal

The Nashville-based firm that owns Tin Roof is bringing Southern fried chicken vibes to Westport, leasing the former Mickey’s Hideaway space.

  • Nashville Hot!: Lottie’s Get Down is the firm behind Tin Roof’s latest offering to Westport. The firm’s CEO said, ā€œIt’ll be a Southern fried chicken concept with a little bit of live music, too.ā€

  • Southern Influence: Tin Roof is apparently taking over the block. Last year, it purchased the adjacent Riot Room, which expanded the bar’s available space. Lottie’s will now be a separate space with its own kitchen and bar.

  • Wide Menu: While Lottie’s is a new concept for the company, the CEO did mention that they are building their menu to accommodate wide-ranging hours from lunch until 3 am on weekends.

No timetable has been set for Lottie’s Get Down to open. Until then, you can visit Tin Roof every day of the week, closing at midnight Sunday through Tuesday, 1 am on Wednesdays, 2 am on Thursdays, and 3 am on Fridays and Saturdays.
