Costume Contest

We Want to See Your Halloween Costumes!

Happy Halloween weekend! Hopefully, you have your costume ready to roll, and we want to see it. So, we’re throwing a KC Daily Costume Contest!

Send us a picture of your costume this weekend, and we’ll share our favorites in a newsletter next week. If we have enough submissions, we’ll share the most creative, the funniest, and the most extravagant. Here’s how to submit:

I’ll kick off the contest: I’m going as Mike Wazowski from Monsters Inc. It’s not the most creative or extravagant, but my kids are obsessed with Monsters Inc. right now, so it’s a hit in our household.

Kansas City Welcomed 680,000 Visitors During the World Cup

KC Daily

The final numbers are in, and Visit KC estimates 680,000 visitors traveled to the region for the World Cup, beating original projections by about 5%.

  • Kicking Goals: About 83% of visitors came from within the U.S., and 17% traveled internationally. Together, they generated roughly $570 million in direct spending across nine metro counties. That falls short of the original $653 million projection, which Visit KC attributes to fewer international visitors, who typically spend more per trip.

  • Record Breakers: The Argentina vs. Switzerland quarterfinal on July 11th set records across the city. The KC Streetcar carried 55,973 riders that day, downtown hotels posted their best single night ever, and KCI screened a record 24,266 departing travelers the next morning. Fans came from nearly 180 countries.

Now, Kansas City is pursuing a bid to host the 2031 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
