Opening

What’s New On The Vine

Vine Street Brewing Co

Kansas City’s first black-owned brewery, Vine Street Brewing Co, is opening its doors to the public for the first time today at the corner of 21st and Vine.

  • History Brews: Not only is Vine Street Brewing the first black-owned brewery in KC, but it’s also the first to claim that title in Missouri. After more than 2+ years of dedication and brewing new beers, VSBC is ready to open.

  • Selection: The beer menu hosts a wide array of in-house brews such as the Jazzman Black Lager, St. Joe Fo Sho an orange vanilla milk stout, the Maris Pale Ale, and “Life of the Party” a fruity sour.

  • Building Anticipation: After renovating a 150-year-old building in the 18th and Vine District, owner Kemmet Coleman has completely renovated the building into a 2-story beer haven.

Vine Street Brewing Co will be open starting today from 3 pm to 9 pm with performances for the opening celebration by a range of Kansas City-based musicians including Kadesh Flow, Eddie Moore, and DJ Skeme.

Awards

KC Wine Earns It’s Shine

KC Daily

Wine Spectator, the publication geared towards- you guessed it- wine connoisseurs, handed out plenty of awards to Kansas City-based restaurants for their wine selections in 2023.

Perhaps surprisingly, none of the KC restaurants listed were first-time winners, with Il Centro making the list for the 19th consecutive time.

Development

New Stadium Developers Make Moves

KC Star

VanTrust, one of the developers who would be involved in the building of a new Royals Stadium closer to downtown, issued zoning compliance letters to the area east of the courthouse building.

  • First Pawn: While VanTrust will tell you that this is a standard operating procedure, the issuing of zoning compliance letters is typically the first move when acquiring large swaths of land.

  • Premium Acreage: The area in question is the closer of the two potential locations to downtown. Letters we sent to property owners of 12 acres in the East Village between 8th and 12th Street and Cherry and Charlotte Street.

  • Going East?: While VanTrust and the Royals remain coy on any further progress towards a moving downtown, it may seem that the writing is on the wall for a move to the East Village with Royals CEO John Sherman saying the location is where the team "probably (has) done the most work."

No similar zoning compliance letters have been sent to the other potential location in NKC, but voting members of Clay County would need to know by the time a vote would appear on November voting ballots.
