Happy Thursday, Kansas City! A Utah-based family entertainment company is eyeing the former Incredible Pizza location in Shawnee as its next venture.

• You’ve Been Rushified: This week, Matt Gertge, owner of the family entertainment chain Rush Funplex, applied for a permit to redevelop and operate a new location in the building where Incredible Pizza stood until two years ago.

• C-Rushing It!: Rush Funplex offers family activities such as bowling, bumper cars, laser tag, rock climbing, mini golf, foam pits, and go-karts.

• Rushing To Get This Done: If all goes well, the 80,000-square-foot space off Shawnee Mission Parkway and Pflumm will be approved for renovation this month.

While no timeline has been set for the opening, Rush Funplex will be open 7 days a week opening daily at 10 am.

An Overland Park startup is gaining traction with a groundbreaking idea- why not be able to invest in professional athletes the same way that you do in stock?

• The New NIL: Vestible, a startup founded by 2 former Oklahoma State football players, is allowing fans to invest in athletes as they rise in the ranks of their sports, and to receive compensation the same way they would through stock.

• Show Me The Money!!: Same as the stock market, players will have an Initial Public Offering(IPO) where investors will be able to purchase stock in the player. 1% of the player’s future contracts will go into escrow which will provide dividend payments to their investors.

• Go Broncos?: Baron Browning, the third-year linebacker for the Denver Broncos out of Ohio State, is Vestible’s first player to IPO. The goal is to add blue-chip players such as Mahomes and Kelce in the future.

Browning’s IPO is expected to come soon. Meanwhile, Vestible continues to target players across the major sports leagues.

Plant Yourself Down & Enjoy A Book

A new bookstore will take the place of a former wine cellar in downtown Overland Park.

• Quit Your Wining: Monstera’s Books will take the place of the former Wyldewood Cellars building with the hopes of opening in March.

• Plants And Books: Monstera’s Books will carry books of all variety from new to vintage, and in every genre. The store will also carry a variety of plants such as the monstera plant for which it’s named after.

• Here For The Vibes: Owners, Katie and Justin Wieners, sought to bring a bookstore to Overland Park that not only offers books to fit anyone’s needs but also provides immaculate “vibes”.

Monstera’s Books will modify the space in the early part of 2024 with a target opening date of March 1st at 7930 Floyd Street.
