Explore Local Bookstores at the 2nd Annual Kansas City Bookstore Crawl

The Kansas City Bookstore Crawl returns November 28-30, inviting book lovers to hop from bookstore to bookstore while collecting stamps in a complimentary passport.

  • Will Crawl for Books: The 2nd annual Bookstore Crawl features 18 participating local bookstores, including Rainy Day Books, Monarch Books & Gifts, Afterword Tavern & Shelves, Monstera’s Books, and more. Passports are free at participating stores or can be downloaded digitally before this weekend.

  • Reading Locally: On Sunday, November 30, J. Rieger & Co. is hosting a Silent Reading Party from 4-8pm. Only the first 500 crawlers with 50% of their passport stamps will be granted entry into the party. Guests can enjoy a silent DJ, with food & drink available for purchase.

The National Auction Association (NAA) is auctioning its own headquarters building in Overland Park, showcasing the strength of the auction method with online bidding now open.

  • New HQ: The property has served as NAA's headquarters for over 40 years since 1983, funded by member contributions and supporting decades of industry growth and professional development. As the NAA prepares for its next chapter, it now seeks another business or organization to write its own story within these walls.

  • Prime Property: The 7,400± square foot commercial office building at 8880 Ballentine, located just off Highway 69 near the I-35 interchange, features 13 private offices, flexible open workspace, a large conference room, kitchen, loft, patio, and extensive storage. A New Restaurant is Coming to the Former Happy Gillis Space in Columbus Park

Dear Donna

A new restaurant from Helen Jo and Johnny Leach called Dear Donna will open in the former Happy Gillis space in Columbus Park.

  • Happy News: Dear Donna will be located at 549 Gillis St., operated by the James Beard-nominated duo behind The Town Company. Happy Gillis had operated in the space since 2008, but closed this past July due to maintenance issues.

  • Neighborhood Eats: According to a joint Instagram post from Helen and Johnny, Dear Donna aims to be “your favorite corner restaurant” where “the cooking, drink and hospitality will be comforting, warm, and reassuring.”

Dear Donna is expected to open in early 2026. Follow along for updates!
