KU Cancer Center Set to Break Ground on New $450 Facility
After hitting an important fundraising milestone, The University of Kansas Cancer Center will break ground on a new $450 million facility this spring.
Major Milestone: After eclipsing $250 million raised in roughly two years, construction can begin in April on the University of Kansas Medical Center’s main campus near 39th St. and Rainbow Blvd in KCK. The project was announced in July of 2022 and has received a variety of federal funding and philanthropic donations.
Care at Home: The 675,000-square-foot research facility will be the region’s only National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center. It will be located at the soon-to-be-demolished Hoglund Biomedical Imaging Center, and construction will be led by JE Dunn.
Completion of the new Cancer Center facility is expected in 2027.
