Johnson County Old Settlers Returns to Olathe September 10-12
Johnson County Old Settlers
One of the region's most time-honored community festivals, Johnson County Old Settlers will soon celebrate its 128th year in downtown Olathe.
Settle In: The event will feature three free days of live entertainment, 15+ food booths run by Johnson County nonprofit groups, arts & crafts, an auto show, carnival, and the iconic parade featuring 130+ participants through historic downtown on Saturday morning.
Family Fun: Admission is free and open to all ages, and a free park-and-ride shuttle service runs from Olathe North High School on Thursday and Friday from 4:30 to 10pm, and Saturday from 8am to 11pm.

A Film to Fork Experience Returns to Lonnie’s Reno Club

Lonnie's Reno Club inside The Ambassador Hotel Kansas City, Autograph Collection is hosting a Film to Fork Experience: a night where the movie meets the menu.
Yes, Chef!: The experience is happening on Thursday, September 17th, when resident Chef Joshua Minnich and team will craft a special menu inspired by the 2014 movie Chef. Each course will be timed to memorable moments from the movie, including a signature shot of Don Julio Blanco near the 11-minute mark.
Theater to Table: Haven’t seen the movie? No problem, the menu speaks for itself. (It’s also a great movie, FYI) Dishes include Pasta Aglio e Olio, Bourbon Aged Prime Strip Steak, Mini Cubano Toast, Molten Chocolate Lava Cake, and more.

Rumor has it that Kansas City was almost named “Possum Trot” during its origins in the 1830s.
Was this name actually being considered? Or was it a sarcastic suggestion from a grumpy local? We may never know, but thank goodness we chose Burnt Ends as our BBQ staple rather than possum.
