Southwest Takes KC Southeast

KC Daily
Beginning this weekend, Southwest will begin flying directly from MCI to international destinations on a daily basis.
Delivering On Expectations: When the new terminal opened in February, there was lots of buzz about airlines adding more flights through the newly built terminal. After adding several directs across the country, Southwest is now expanding to daily international flights as well.
Make Jimmy Buffet Proud: Starting this weekend, the airline will now be flying non-stop daily to Cancun, and weekly to Montego Bay and San José del Cabo.
Wanna Get Away?: Initially, the direct flight to Cancun was slated to only be once a week like the other new non-stop options. However, after seeing the demand for the flights out of KC, Southwest opted to run the route 7 days a week.
If you’re looking for your next cost-effective and efficient getaway to the Caribbean, check out Southwest’s direct flights starting today.

Meddy’s Brookside Opens Today!

KC Daily
Meddy’s Mediterranean Restaurant is opening its newest location in Brookside today.
2nd Of Many: Meddy’s, the Wichita-based Mediterranean restaurant that came to KC just last year, is opening its second in the metro with many more to come.
Plans For Expansion: In an interview earlier this year, Meddy’s owner said that he could see up to 13 Meddy’s within the KC metro thanks to the rapid growth shown at its Prairie Village location.
Fresh Taste: The menu focuses on a mixture of bowls, platters, shawarma, and salads that all take their cue from the fresh Mediterranean diet. Of course, the hummus and pita are a must with each meal.
The new Meddy’s location is at 6301 Brookside Plaza and will be open 7 days a week from 10:30-10.

Things Aren’t That Bad

KC Daily
It’s no secret that the cost of living has gone up everywhere, but Kansas City still ranks in the top 30 most affordable metros in the country.
Studies Have Shown: In a recent study where the Business Journals analyzed Bureau of Economic Analysis’ Regional Price Parity Index data, Kansas City was ranked the 27th most affordable metro.
Numbers Game: On a scale where the national average is 100, KC’s cost of living was 93.7%. For context, the most affordable metro was McAllen, TX with a score of 87.7%, and San Francisco was the most expensive at 119.8% of the national average.
Give and Take: While it placed 31st in affordable housing, prices are still up 4% from last year on average. A big improvement from early this year when KC was among the least affordable housing markets.
