Your August Plans Are Up In The Air

KC Airshow

The Garmin Kansas City Airshow is coming to the New Century AirCenter in New Century, KS August 19-20th.

  • Blue Angels and More: The Airshow will feature the famous US Navy Blue Angels alongside other impressive aircraft specialists like the F-22 Raptor Demo Team and several Red Bull flight and skydiving specialists.

  • Come Prepared: Gates will open at 9 am each day and will close at 5 pm. Guests are invited to bring binoculars and earplugs for children. You may want them too if you plan on watching mammoth planes like the A-10C Thunderbolt II.

  • Stay All Day: Various food and beverage concessions will be available for purchase throughout areas of the venue. Food, beer, ice cream, and novelty concessions stands will be open to guests with tickets. All outside food and beverages are prohibited.

  • Another Title: Similar to the Chiefs’ Super Bowl beer “Worth the Wait” from 2020, the new beer named “Another Round” is “a testament to KC’s greatness and love for its champions.”

  • Imperial Taste: Another Round is an 8% Imperial Wheat and will be available in stores next week, but only in Missouri and Kansas.

  • Winning Collectibles: The 25-ounce bottles are the latest in Boulevard’s tradition of making commemorative bottles when KC teams win championships like the Royals in 2015 and Sporting in 2013.

Look for Another Round to hit shelves of liquor stores and grocery stores across the metro this week.

Development

Eyesore to Eye Catching

NSPJ Architects

NorthPoint Development is demolishing the former Trinity Lutheran Hospital site off Main and 31st Street close to Penn Valley Park to make way for a new $130 million apartment complex called ArriveKC.

  • Court Battles: NorthPoint, which took over the properties in September 2021, received them from infamous former developer Wayne Reeder, who had promised luxury apartments, but was never able to provide anything but apartments that failed fire inspections and a derelict parking garage leading to a drawn-out court battle over the incomplete project.

  • ArriveKC: The complex will have 373 units and will include a variety of amenities, such as a wellness center, fitness center, rock-climbing wall, outdoor pool, and conference room. This is the largest development yet along the new Streetcar route.

  • The Long, Weary Road: The Hospital, which shut down in 2001, has seen its hopes dashed several times for development, but it appears North Point will be able to finally deliver the new building by 2025.
