Get Ready for Cinco de Mayo!

South of Summit

Oh yeah, we forgot one thing in our Weekend Roundup…Sunday is Cinco de Mayo! Let us help you celebrate, check out our Five Margaritas to Try in Kansas City.

  • History is a Party: Fun fact: Cinco de Mayo was originally celebrated to honor Mexico’s victory over the Second French Empire in 1862. Now, the first Sunday of May is celebrated across the U.S. as a celebration of Mexican-American culture.

  • For the Thirsty: What better way to celebrate Cinco de Mayo than at one of KC’s many Mexican restaurants with one of Mexico’s favorite cocktails?

Where should we try a margarita next? Let us know!

A New Pickleball Destination is Coming to Kansas City

Helix Architecture + Design

Development group Community Builders of Kansas City is getting ready to transform the now-closed CoCo Key Water Resort into a pickleball destination.

  • From Slides to Paddles: CBKC purchased the facility (attached to the Adam’s Mark Hotel near the Truman Sports Complex) in 2020, and now has plans to develop it into SW19 at the Stadium. This will be in partnership with Daryl Wyatt and Julie Gibson, who own SW19 Tennis and Pickleball in Leawood.

  • For the Pros: In addition to eight courts, a bar and restaurant, and VIP rooms, SW at the Stadium will be the home of KC’s first professional pickleball team, the Kansas City Stingers. It will also focus on introducing pickleball to underserved youth in Jackson County.
