Multiple New Restaurants are Coming Soon to the Plaza

The Seventh Church of Christ, Scientist's building at 604 W. 47th St. is preparing for demolition this week to make way for a new multirestaurant building.

  • Make Way: Drake Development’s Cocina 47 project will be a three-story building housing multiple fine-dining restaurants. The building will also provide a new space for the church that calls the corner home.

  • Three Tasty Floors: Cocina 47 will neighbor the Jack Henry building, and is finalizing lease agreements for restaurants on the second and third floors. Drake is still seeking a tenant for the first-floor restaurant space.

One of Kansas City’s best festivals celebrating Italian traditions is set to take place this upcoming weekend at Zona Rosa.

  • Come for the Food -  Festa Italiana is set for its 16th celebration put on by UNICO KC at Zona Rosa. The 3-day festival is filled with Italian food & desserts, wine + beer, games, vendors, and more. The festival averages 50,000 annual visitors!

  • Stay for the Experience - All proceeds from the festival fund UNICO’s annual scholarships and local charities. This year, $56,000 will be awarded in college scholarships and to area high school students.

Festa Italiana kicks off this Friday at 5 pm and the party continues throughout the weekend. See the full schedule HERE.

Waldo Favorite Hemma Hemma is Making Some Changes

Hemma Hemma, the Waldo neighborhood-favorite restaurant/bodega/“Hotline” will be making some changes.

  • Just Some Tweaks: Owner Ashley Bare announced on Instagram last week that the beloved “Hotline” (hot food bar) will be going away and will be replaced by a made-to-order concept. Hemma Hemma will be closed June 3rd-6th to prepare for this change that will take place on June 7th.

  • Waldo Favorites: With the change, Hemma Hemma will have more offerings on their breakfast and lunch menus. They will also continue to offer cooking classes and Fill Your Fridge Monday Delivery.

STOMP to Make a Stop at Starlight Theatre

Grab your trashcans! International sensation STOMP is making a stop at Starlight Theatre this month.

  • Energetic Beats: Since 1994, the cast of STOMP has been electrifying audiences with percussion beats using items such as matchboxes, brooms, garbage cans, lighters, and more. The show combines dance, music, and theatrical performances blended in one electrifying rhythm.

  • STOMPing Grounds: After 29 years and over 11,000 performances, STOMP closed in New York City and began traveling the country. The show will be at Starlight Theatre from June 14-16 with shows starting at 8 pm.
