Fight for your Right to Party at the Second Annual Kelce Jam

Kelce Jam

Chiefs fans, music festival fans, local food fans, and party fans - rejoice! The second annual Kelce Jam hosted by KC’s favorite party animal is set for May 18th, 2024.

  • Welcome to the Jam: Last year’s inaugural event was a smashing success, with over 15,000 attendees partying with Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. Performances included Machine Gun Kelly, Rick Ross, Tech N9ne, and more.

  • You Know Who: This year’s festival is returning to Azura Amphitheatre in Bonner Springs. The music lineup is yet to be announced, but even if a certain music superstar who has a certain connection to the host isn’t on the schedule, this highlight of last year’s event will still have you ready to party.

Betty Rae’s Opening Fourth Metro Location

Betty Rae’s

Local ice cream shop Betty Rae’s is expanding in the metro again, this time to Merriam.

  • I Scream, You Scream: Betty Rae’s is already a staple in Kansas City for dessert lovers. Their fun and innovative flavors (i.e. Joe’s Kansas City Burnt End Ice Cream) have led to a cult-like following, with lines out the door on nice summer nights. The newest location in Merriam will be located at 5740 Antioch Road.

  • For Science!: The Merriam location will house a “test kitchen”, where customers will be able to sample and provide feedback on upcoming flavors. The shop will rotate test flavors monthly.

We love Betty Rae’s enough to put them on our list of places for the Best Ice Cream in Kansas City.

BBQ Pop-Up Opens a Ghost Kitchen in the Crossroads

Smoak Craft Barbecue+

Two brothers are expanding their popular barbecue pop-up concept to the Crossroads in a shared ghost kitchen space.

  • Smoak and Mirrors: Seth and Cade Colson are bringing Smoak Craft Barbecue+ to the Crossroads Food Stop at 1600 Campbell. The Olathe-based pop-up has operated out of multiple spots in the metro, as well as serving their ‘cue at Arrowhead and Kauffman Stadium.

  • Ghosts are Scary: The concept of ghost kitchens is picking up steam across the nation. The idea is for multiple restaurants to be housed under one roof, and only offer delivery service. The Crossroads Food Stop at 1600 Campbell currently houses 22 restaurant concepts.

The Colson’s concept in the Crossroads will operate under the name Smoak BBQ To-Go, and you can place your orders here.
