KC2026 Launches Plan for Small Businesses Ahead of the FIFA World Cup
KC2026 has launched KC Game Plan, a comprehensive initiative to help local businesses capitalize on the estimated 650,000 visitors expected during the 2026 FIFA World Cup next summer.
Welcome the World: Developed with over 100 nonprofit organizations, chambers of commerce, and entrepreneur support groups, KC Game Plan offers bilingual resources tailored for industries like dining, lodging, retail, and entertainment. The living resource includes visitor insights, fan traditions, and a confidential readiness assessment allowing businesses to create customized preparation strategies.
Business of Interest: The initiative uses the region's network of partners to provide training, tools, and contracting opportunities through KC2026's Business Interest Form. By equipping small businesses with these resources, KC Game Plan aims to showcase Kansas City's local small business community while ensuring long-term success beyond 2026.

Gram & Dun to Open Second Location at Argosy Casino
Gram & Dun is expanding across the Missouri River with a second location opening at Argosy Casino & Hotel in January 2026.
Local Favorites: The new 250-seat restaurant will feature regional favorites elevated with refined culinary techniques, locally sourced ingredients, and signature cocktails. The space will include private rooms and outdoor seating, offering guests a dynamic experience whether visiting for breakfast, lunch, or an evening celebration.
Gamble & Gram: The collaboration between W. VinZant Restaurants and Argosy Casino aims to create a memorable dining anchor at the venue Gram & Dun to bring culinary artistry across the river to Argosy Casino. Gram & Dun's original location remains on the Country Club Plaza at 600 Ward Parkway.
And if anyone from the kitchen at Gram & Dun is reading this right now, PLEASE bring back the Loaded Baked Potato Gnocchi. 🙏

Monarch Books & Gifts Reopens Today at New Location
Monarch Books & Gifts is opening the doors of its new location TODAY in Overland Park.
Not Going Far: Monarch hasn’t moved far, with the new space being located at 7713 W. 151st St. in Overland Park, just a few steps away from the old location at Stanley Station shopping center.
(Re)Open a Book: While the grand reopening is set for today, Monarch Books & Gifts will be celebrating all weekend long. The shop is open from 10am - 6pm, and you can check out the new space, find your next read, and support one of KC’s indie bookstores.

🇮🇪 Irish Springs: Raise a pint, shop local, dance to the music, and celebrate Irish heritage at the Excelsior Springs Irish Festival in the rolling, picturesque countryside October 4-5.*
⚡️ Need a Spark: The Seville Plaza Hotel will undergo a $2.8 million renovation to become Kansas City’s first Spark by Hilton. The hotel is located at 4309 Main St., near the Country Club Plaza.
🍝 Eatin’ Good: A former Applebee’s in Olathe (16110 W. 135th St.) will become an Italian restaurant called Bella’s. It hopes to be open in November, and will serve authentic Italian dishes from family recipes.
🏆 Art & Sports: The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art will open a new exhibit called Personal Best on October 18th. The exhibit is inspired by Kansas City’s role as a host site for FIFA World Cup 26, and celebrates six local artist-athletes.
🌉 Working on Patience: The opening date for the highly-anticipated Rock Island Bridge has been delayed again. The entertainment district suspended over the Kansas River now targets a mid-2026 completion.
